# DEAD WEB FUN

> The internet is the game. Every website is a level. Sites pay to be listed as levels on a leaderboard drawn as an overworld map. Players run down the map, visit each site, find a hidden egg, beat a tiny retro game, and bank a score multiplier into the level they are playing for. Scores halve every 7 days.

## How it works

- A level is a listed website. Listing costs at least $5 (AUD). The payment becomes points: 1 cent = 1 point.
- Rank is by live score. Every point decays continuously and halves every 7 days, so recent activity counts most.
- Each level hides an egg using a script tag (egg.js) on its own site. The egg only appears for players on a run.
- A run goes down the leaderboard from #1. On each site a player can visit (stay at least 8 seconds) or find the egg and clear the game guarding it. Visits and clears grow the run's multiplier, capped at 40.
- Score = money x skill. Money is the decaying sum of a level's listing payment and credit boosts (half-life 7 days). Skill is 1 + the best recent run's (multiplier - 1), decaying with a 3-day half-life; a banked run only replaces it if it beats the decayed best. Runs can be played for any live level.
- Players get 4 free lives per UTC day. Credits buy continues within a run and can boost any level (1 credit = 1 cent of money).
- Games are deterministic and verified by replaying the player's inputs on the server.

## For agents

- Agent play is not open yet. Runs, egg visits and game clears are built for people in a browser, and there is no agent API for playing.

- To list a website as a level, a person uses [https://deadweb.fun/insert-coin](https://deadweb.fun/insert-coin). Listing requires payment through hosted checkout.
- Site owners install the egg with one tag: <script async src="https://deadweb.fun/egg.js" data-site="{siteKey}"></script>. The site key is shown to the owner after listing.
